Living in South End

The South End is the largest intact Victorian row-house district in the country, more than 300 acres of bowfront brick homes set around small landscaped squares like Union Park and Blackstone and Franklin Squares. Tremont Street and Washington Street are lined with some of the city's best restaurants, and the SoWa art and design district hosts open studios and a popular Sunday market.

The Southwest Corridor Park runs along the neighborhood's western edge with gardens, playgrounds and a bike path. The Orange Line stops at Back Bay and Massachusetts Avenue, the Silver Line runs down Washington Street, and downtown, Back Bay and the Longwood Medical Area are all close.

Nearly everything here is a row house, most divided into condos. From 2015 to 2025, about 92% of residential sales were condos, with single families and multi-families at about 5% and 2%.
