Neighborhood guide

Living in Hyde Park

Hyde Park was the last town to join Boston, in 1912, and it still has the feel of a small town inside the city. Cleary Square and Logan Square are its main streets, with family-run shops, pizza and Roundhead Brewing. During the Civil War, the 54th Massachusetts, one of the first Black regiments raised in the North, trained at Camp Meigs in Readville.

The neighborhood is unusually green for Boston: Stony Brook Reservation's trails and ponds sit on one side, and the Neponset River and its greenway on the other, along with the George Wright Golf Course. Commuter rail stops at Hyde Park, Readville and Fairmount make downtown an easy ride.

Hyde Park's housing is mostly single families on real yards, along with two- and three-family homes. From 2015 to 2025, about 57% of residential sales were single families, 25% condos and 18% multi-families.
