40 Harvard St #1 on Somerville’s Spring Hill

Hilltop Hideaway

A stylish, turnkey condo offering bi-level living in Spring Hill.

Offer Accepted!

1577 sq ft | 3 beds | 2 full baths | 1 half bath | 1 parking spot

Welcome to 40 Harvard Street, a classy 2019 renovation that offers two floors of living space with open plan living on the main level, a choice of two primary bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a private garden and patio for finding your zen. The open layout, adorned with coffered ceilings and a gas fireplace, creates a welcoming and inviting space for everyday living, but is also the perfect backdrop for entertaining (complete with wine fridge and bar area). Southern exposures add warmth, flooding the living room with afternoon light.

At the heart of the home lies the kitchen, a space as functional as it is beautiful. Outfitted with custom cabinetry, luxurious quartz countertops, and high-end JennAir appliances, the kitchen is as much a place for culinary creativity as it is for casual gatherings. The eat-in island with countertop seating provides a perfect spot for everything from morning coffee to late-night conversations.

With one primary suite on the main living level, this home can easily accommodate one-level living. But the additional primary suite on the lower level and a third bedroom provides flexibility to meet additional needs for a home office, guest or gym space. The lower level suite features two walk-in closets, a spa-like bath, appointed with a 6 ft soaking tub, offering a respite from the modern pace.

The home’s interior seamlessly extends to an exclusive private garden, a rare find in condo living. The outdoor space, framed by mounds of Japanese forest grass and vibrant maple leaves, invites moments of relaxation and reflection. Additionally, an irrigated raised bed offers the opportunity to cultivate a kitchen garden that will thrive even when the gardener is away.

Right at the crest of the hill, just off of Summer Street, this home benefits from being in one of the best neighborhoods that Somerville has to offer. The tree-lined streets of Spring Hill have an eclectic blend of historic homes, with Greek Revival and Victorians dotting Harvard Street. The Carr Schoolhouse and notorious cake-like "Roundhouse" are notable additions at the foot of the Harvard where it intersects Atherton.

Located near artisanal shops, farmers' markets, restaurants, and just steps from two GLX stops, 40 Harvard St offers a blend of sophistication and accessibility in Somerville.

With Union Square and Porter Square nearby, you'll find everything you need for shopping, fitness, entertainment, and dining right at your fingertips.

A Little About Somerville

Somerville is one of the most exciting neighborhoods in Metro Boston. Old school immigrants and newcomers have been coexisting here for decades, creating an eclectic mix of cultures. The resulting dining scene has some of the best diversity for any Boston area neighborhood. Artists and young people have continued to add their own fresh takes by gravitating to the area when the housing was considered the affordable alternative to Cambridge.  Due to the recent expansion of the Green Line from Lechmere to Union Square and beyond to Tufts, the growth of commerce and increased investment in the community has been substantial.

Boston Home Team Favorites*

Bow Market - “For the best in Boston, go to Somerville” is the aptly worded tagline for Bow Market. (JK) The collection of independent food, art, and retail shops, as well as a brewery, wine bar and comedy club offer an eclectic mix of entertainment options in Union Sq. The public courtyard has reservable fire pit dining tables that create a vivacious atmosphere from which to enjoy the market’s wares. This is an area attraction that captures just what makes Somerville feel so special.

Josephine’s - Finally! A place where the deep dish and thin crust pizza lovers can be equally satisfied. We’re fiends for Josephine’s! Our resident pizza expert (and former Serious Eats editor) can be found indulging in a “Tito’s Favorite”on the regs, but don’t sleep on the city’s BEST chicken parm, or the shrimp cocktail perfection, all washed down with dirty martinis on draft.

Sarma - Small plates laced with exotic spices and innovative cocktails are the order of the day at this modern Mediterranean restaurant. It’s the kind of place that comes to mind when planning a special-occasion evening out, but also makes total sense as a weeknight indulgence. Helmed by Oleana alum and 5 times James Beard nominee, Cassie Piuma, this is one Somerville’s crown jewels.

Leone’s - Mamma Mia, now that’s a good slab ‘a pizza! This legendary Winter Hill pizza shop has been rolling out square slab (aka Sicilian style) pizza since 1954, and they still only take cash (wink). Their dough is pillowy, the sauce is zippy and it’s a slice of pure heaven. When you move into your new Somerville home, this is the pizza to order for the moving party (and every party)!

Highland Kitchen - This is your one stop shop for all your neighborhood bar and restaurant needs. Amazing American comfort food? Check. One of the nation’s best jukeboxes? Check. A beer lover’s line-up poured by craft cocktail connoisseurs? Check. And all of this in a welcoming room of locals who will make you want to become a regular.

Tasty Mo:Mo - Frequently landing on “Best of Boston” roundups for the namesake Nepalese dumpling, Tasty Momo is a destination for Himalayan cuisine. A must try for any dumpling lover!

Tipping Cow Ice Cream - An award-winning scoop shop specializing in gourmet ice cream ranging from the classics to seasonal specialities. They offer vegan and dairy free options and all their flavors are nut-free, so there is something for everyone. Nothing makes a neighborhood feel more complete than the corner ice cream store.

Winter Hill Brewing - A small batch local brewery that will be on any beer lovers list. And they aren’t just brewing beers. Start your morning off with a freshly brewed cup of coffee and breakfast sandwich from the cafe. For the rest of the day they have snacks, burgers, salads and more to accompany any mug of suds.

* Editor’s note: There are so many more tasty spots in Somerville and if we listed them all, we’d be here all day. Once you buy this listing from the Boston Home Team, you’ll have all the time in the world to explore this rich and diverse food scene!
