Pondside Living, City Convenience with this Classic JP Colonial
1,680 sq. ft. | 4 bedrooms | 1 full bath | 1 half bath
Asking: TBD
Tucked at the end of one of Jamaica Plainās most treasured streets, this classic hipped-roof Colonial delivers timeless charm, modern comfort, and a location that puts you right in the sweet spot of Pondside living.
With four bedrooms and one and a half baths, this Dunster Road home welcomes you with beautifully maintained oak floors and modern LED recessed lighting that complement its classic lines. The traditional layout includes a modest kitchen outfitted with a stainless steel 6-burner range, white appliances, and a charming butlerās pantry for added storage and prep space. The adjacent dining room features a built-in china cabinetāa nod to the homeās early 20th-century roots.
The sun-drenched living room stretches the length of the house, centered by a wood-burning fireplace and opening to a cozy, office-sized bump-outāperfect for remote work, reading, or quiet moments. From there, step out to a private brick patio framed by lush perennials. The backyard may be compact, but itās a peaceful retreat that feels worlds away from the cityāyour own little slice of urban sanctuary.
The detached garage (more ideal for storage or compact vehicles) and a two-car tandem driveway make parking simple, while the unfinished basement adds flexible space for storage, a home gym, or future expansion. A vintage work sink and laundry area add character and function to the lower level. The home also features a brand-new 2-zone mini-split A/C system to keep things cool through the warmer months.
And the location? It doesnāt get much better. Just a stoneās throw from Jamaica Pond and its iconic walking path, and less than a mile to the Arnold Arboretum, youāre surrounded by green space and natural beauty. JPās Centre and South Streets are just minutes away, offering locally loved restaurants like Vee Vee, Tonino, and JP Seafood, plus shops, cafĆ©s, and transit options that connect you easily to the rest of the city.
Dunster Road is more than a streetāitās a community. Known for its festive Halloween scene and neighborly energy, itās the kind of place where people put down roots.
Whether you're craving easy access to outdoor spaces, a tight-knit neighborhood, or a blend of city energy and residential peace, this Pondside classic delivers.

A Little About Jamaica Plain
For starters, locals call it JP. Once a vacation getaway for Bostonās elite merchants in centuries past, Jamaica Plainās rolling hills are now home to a diverse and exciting fabric of community activism, an array of tasty restaurants and other small businesses, and many wonderful green spaces in and around the area. Surrounded by Olmstedās Emerald Necklace, JP is one of the greenest neighborhoods in Boston.
Boston Home Team Favorites*
Life Alive - Organic and undeniably tasty bowls, wraps, soups, and smoothies, Life Alive is a personal team favorite.
Brendan Behan Pub - This is where the locals gather, in front, inside, and out back. A JP institution since the late 80s. Grab a late night bite from Food Wall across the street, and bring it over why donāt you?
Tres Gatos - Now a staple on the block, Tres Gatos is a Spanish themed bistro style restaurant with a record/book store in the back. The folks who own and manage this spot are some of our favorite people, and they maintain Tres Gatos as a community-oriented establishment with frequent benefits in support of meaningful local causes.
The Galway House - If youāre a food snob, itās best to stay away from the Galway. But if you like good food that is consistently excellent with whipfast service at incredibly reasonable prices, then the Galway is the place for you. Also, their onion rings are in the conversation for the Best in Boston (easily).
Tonino - Classic Italian. If there was a prize for JPās best all around menu, it would have to go to Tonino. Make a reservation now, because getting in to Tonino isnāt easy!
Chilacates - Authentic Mexican street food. Deeelish.
City Feed & Supply - Two locations in JP. The original āLittleā City Feed is just a couple blocks from 7 Lakeville. Locally owned, locally sourced (when/where possible) foods and groceries. They have a yummy sandwich menu (farmerās lunch, anyone?) and one helluva breakfast sandwich.
Blue Nile - Lovely Ethiopian classics in a warm and friendly environment.
Seed - A locally owned and operated dispensary and social justice museum in the space once occupied by the erstwhile JP Bowl and old Milky Way Lounge & Lanes.
For Pizza we canāt pick just one: Same Old Place, Marioās, There are too many to list!
Events and Organizations to Explore:
Franklin Park Coalition, Spontaneous Celebrations and W.U.T.E, JP NDC, JP Local First
* Editorās note: There are so many more tasty spots in JP and if we listed them all, weād be here all day. Once you buy this listing from the Boston Home Team, youāll have all the time in the world to explore this rich and diverse food scene!
