By the end of 2021, Boston will have three new theaters. Together, these three new performance venues will hold about 11,000 people. Each of these venues will be attached to existing sites including TD Garden and Fenway Park.

Let’s look at all three new venues quickly.

Boston Landing

The Bowery has a 3,500-capacity performance venue in the works at the Boston Landing Complete. This new theater will anchor a new portion of the area, which will be a mixed-use complex called The Track at New Balance.

Construction has started, and the anticipated opening is scheduled for the fall of 2021. The venue has yet to be named, and no renderings have been released yet, either.

Big Night Live

A new 40,000-square-foot venue will be coming to the space next to TD Garden. This venue will be called Big Night Life, and it’s expected to open in the fall of 2019 as a part of the massive Hub on Causeway project.

Big Night Entertainment and Live Nation are working together to create this theater, which will feature a 200-seat Mexican restaurant. There will be multiple tiers and windows behind the stage to provide views of Zakin Bridge and Boston Harbor.

The Fenway Theater

Once the current baseball season wraps up, construction on a new theater next to Fenway Park will begin. The theater is expected to open in the fall of 2021.

This theater will be a multipurpose performance venue with the capacity for 5,400. It will be used to host year-round events, but much could change before it opens since it’s still in the early design stages.

The construction may start when the baseball season is over, as long as everything goes as planned. The project backers would like to have the construction completed before the Boston Arts Academy opens across the street.

These are the three new venues coming to Boston by 2021. All three will provide another spot for an intimate event, including concerts and other performances. While it will be a couple of years before they open, these theaters will certainly help to add to the already booming theater scene found throughout the city.
