What better place to start than a look at the incredible menu. Both small and large plate options are found on the menu, along with sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and desserts. They also offer a kids menu with a few good choices for the little ones.
The small plates feature plenty of great options including Sophia’s Meatballs, Antipasto, Avocado Crostini, and Panzanella. You’ll find plenty of classic Italian dishes within the small plates section perfect to get things started or for a lighter meal.
The large plates section offers some classic Italians dishes, such as Gnocchi Bolognese and Cannelloni. The menu also features plenty of unique dishes, such as the Sachetti and the Spicy Mussels. There’s something for just about everybody on the menu with plenty of large plates to choose from.

Sophia’s Grotto opened in March of 2005 and it didn’t take long to receive glowing reviews and a few great awards. In 2008, Boston Magazine names Sophia’s Grotto to the list of 25 Bets Al Fresco Spots. Then, a year later in 2009, the restaurant was named to the Boston Magazine list of the Best of Boston for Affordable Al Fresco Dining.
Again in 2013, the restaurant was named to a list put out by the Boston Magazine. This time it was the Best Roslindale Restaurant list.

Sophia’s Grotto is found in the Roslindale Village at 22r Birch Street. It’s open from 5pm to 9:30pm, Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 10pm on Friday, from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday and from 12pm to 9pm on Sunday.
