A wonderful residential neighborhood found in Boston, Roslindale is bordered by Hyde Park, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury. The location is just six miles from Downtown Boston and it was once a part of the town of Roxbury.

Locals often refer to the neighborhood as Rozzie, which fits with the eclectic feel of the area. It’s filled with plenty to offer for residents and known as one of the best spots to call home in Boston.

Roslindale is filled with large condominium buildings, single-family homes, and multi-family properties. It’s split into smaller sections known as hills, which include:

  • The Ladder Street of Walter to Centre

Each of these areas offers a distinct feel and a mixture of real estate options.

Many larger condo buildings are found throughout including the Belgrade Crossing Condos, 18 Roberts Street condos and the Roslindale Village Residences. While these are larger buildings, they do provide an intimate feel with less than 20 units per building.

While Roslindale isn’t as expensive as Jamaica Plain, it’s headed in that direction. The properties found near Roslindale Square are some of the most desirable and can be some of the most expensive. New construction is popping up throughout the neighborhood, as well.

The neighborhood is still more affordable than others around it, but it’s getting more expensive as it grows.

Shopping, Dining, and Entertainment in Roslindale

While Roslindale is mainly a residential neighborhood, it does offer plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment throughout.  Roslindale Village is the place to go for shopping and dining. It’s home to the Farmers’ Market in Adam Park and hosts several local restaurants, such as Sophia’s Grotto and Delfino’s. In addition, it’s home to the Birch Street Bistro and Pleasant Cafe is found just outside the village.

The entertainment throughout the area comes in abundance, as well. Plenty of live music performances are held throughout and the event calendar is jam-packed year-round. Porchfest is one of the top events of the year and Open Studios is also very popular.

Roslindale also offers plenty of parks with more than 40 acres of green space including the Arnold Arboretum or as locals call it Arbs. This is a great place for walking your dog, taking a stroll or enjoying a bike ride. The Arboretum also holds several seasonal events.
