Mission Hill

A popular neighborhood for those attending neighboring colleges, Mission Hill provides a great place to call home in Boston. It’s found near the Longwood Medical Area, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Harvard Teaching Hospitals, and many of the best Boston colleges.

While Mission Hill isn’t’ a very large neighborhood in Boston, it does offer plenty of character and a vibrant atmosphere. In fact, the Boston Globe named Mission Hill as one of the 25 best zip codes in the state back in 2008.

While it’s not uncommon to find students throughout Mission Hill, there’s more to the neighborhood than just undergraduates. Many students do take advantage of the lower priced four and five bedroom rentals found in the area, however.

Many beautiful brownstones are found on residential streets just off the main drags of Tremont Street and Huntington Avenue. In addition, it’s easy to find historic homes similar to those found in Jamaica Plain.

Mission Hill offers a bit of something for everybody with apartments, condos, single-family homes and multi-family properties. There are plenty of rentals for students and plenty of beautiful homes for those working nearby. Triple deckers and brick row houses are rather common here along with homes with modern renovations.

Those looking for something a bit more affordable will find it closer to the Brigham Circle or Huntington Avenue area. However, if you’re seeking something larger and more expensive, you’ll find some of the most desirable Boston properties in the Mission Hill area.

Several of the buildings throughout the area have been converted into luxury condos. It’s possible to find a one-bedroom loft here, as well.

Shopping, Dining, and Entertainment in Mission Hill

It’s a lively neighborhood with plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment throughout. Coolidge Corner is one of the best spots for shopping and dining. It’s also home to a movie theatre for entertainment.

Mission hill also offers the Museum of Fine Arts, along with plenty of other attractions. In addition, resident enjoy plenty of green space with the Back of the Hill area known for the lush landscape, along with Iroquois Woods.

Living in Mission Hill

Choosing to live in Mission Hill does mean you will live in a neighborhood with a high population of students. However, the neighborhood has plenty to offer for those not attending college. It’s a great location for anybody working at nearby hospitals, colleges, and universities.

Mission Hill also offers plenty of things to do, shopping options and dining choices. It’s a popular place to call home with a vibrant atmosphere and several great historic properties.
